The mission of L.E.A.P is to create a meaningful environment enriched with enjoyable, purposeful activities through focus and direction. Our goal is for the atmosphere after school to be calm, fun, comfortable, and safe; children may feel “at home” before they go home. L.E.A.P. not only continues Montessori education but reinforces the caring environment throughout the entire day. Children are brought together in age-appropriate families to extend their daily development (socially, academically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually). The groups (3-6 year olds are called Kangaroos or ‘Roos, 6-9 year olds are called Dolphins, and 9-12 year olds are [Leapin’] Lizards) are facilitated by a dedicated staff that is coached by the Montessori teachers. L.E.A.P students participate in community group activities (sports, songs, games, community building) and Outdoor Environment activities (gardening, composting, arts and crafts, cooking, building, sensorial work and campus beautification). They can, of course, work on homework, read, or play educational games. Furthermore, Grace and Courtesy lessons are taught and practiced.
